Bravi! Grazie di cuore

I have been delayed in posting our feedback from our stay in 2011. The best testimony I can probably give: Esqisito! Anna, Davide, Simone - all were so very welcoming and helpful. My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful time. Everything about out accommodations and hospitality was 5 star. If it provides any insight - 9 months following our stay our family grew by one more bambino - a girl! Davide assisted us each day with our plans - and helped guide us to the best restaurants and connections to explore the amazing Amalfi Coast. Truly fabulous accommodations, wonderful hospitality, and Anna's fig preserves are out of this world! Their Limoncello is the best I have ever had as well! We are anxiously awaiting the completion of my wife's training in September of 2014 - we are returning to Refugio degli Dei then to celebrate and enjoy another wonderful trip to the Amalfi Coast! We think back to our time there often and truly can not wait to return. Bravo, Anna, Davide and Simone!

I can’t say enough about our stay at Refugio degli Dei. Our trip had a rough start. First, we had problems on the train ride from Naples to Sorrento before arriving at Refugio Degli Dei. Then, my wife turned head while heading down the stairs our first full day there. Let me stress that it was no fault of the steps, which are well maintained. She turned her head and missed a step. The family at Refugio degli Dei could not have been more helpful with our problems. Paulo was so gracious in meeting us our first day. And, when my wife hurt her foot, the family took such good care of us. Octavio drove us to a free Red Cross care center to treatment, and purchased medicine for us. The foot was not broken as we feared, but ligament damage. Throughout the stay, they took great care of us. Anna’s breakfast was great with not only the great pastries and jams that other mention, but even cooking us bacon and eggs. Davide was our concierge, making dinner reservations and giving advice on our daily plans. We also enjoyed talking to him about the local culture and history. We stayed at the Dionysis apartment, which had a bedroom, sitting room with fold out couch, and kitchenette. Very nice. Also, it feature a private courtyard with an unbelievable view of Positano. The building we found out is only 5 years old, but the beautiful garden and grounds dates back generations. The view from our window and the courtyard looks like a beautiful painting, and so peaceful! Yes, there are a lot of steps, but you learn to take your time and enjoy the view on the way. Remember, my wife did it for six days with a torn ligament in her foot. Positano is definitely the place to stay. The bus stopped at the bottom of our steps. We planned to walk to town some, but my wife’s injury changed those plans. Amalfi is crowded, noisy, and dirty. Praiano and Ravello are nice and peaceful, but maybe a little too peaceful and out of the way for us. My recommendations are Ristorante Mediterrano (our favorite)in Positano. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday they have a great live singer. We had a great time there - twice. Also dinner at La Tagliatta in Monteperoso, Huge meal, with five courses that seem like an Italian smorgabord, and it’s all good. They have a shuttle that picks you up. Davide made our reservation. Also, lunch at Santa Croce in Nocelle and check out the Sientiere degli Dei from there, even if you don’t make the whole journey. By the way, take the bus to Nocelle, not the stairs. In closing, we have taken many vacations in our 40 years of marriage. We have never been happier with our accommodations. The price was more than reasonable - cheap in my view. Also, the fridge is stocked with wine, beer, and soft drinks at prices cheaper than you can find in town. When Octavio and Simone came to check on my wife the evening after her injury, I thanked them for all the care and concern they showed us. 13 year old Simone said they try to treat people like family, not guests. Sounds like they taught him how to say the right thing, but it was a sentiment we actually felt in our stay. If you are going to the Amalfi Coast, take my advice, go to Positano and stay at the Refugio Degli Dei. And to our hosts Davide, Anna, Octavio, Simone, and Paulo: Thank you, again. We will never forget you.

We stayed 5 nights. We found it a magical place to stay. It does have lots of steps and the walk to Positano is a bit hairy because of the traffic but despite that we would come back tomorrow to stay. Stunning views from our window and the fabulous terrace(s). Although not in Positano, it's great for walkers because it is very close to the sensational Sentieri degli dei (Walk of the Gods) and other great restaurants and vistas above it (eg Nocelle, Tratoria Santa Croce, Donna Rosa at Montepertuso). The distance from Positano also makes it an incredibly peaceful and relaxing spot. Fantastic service from Davide (who speaks good english) and Anna (who gave us bowls of her glorious tomatoes and herbs, as well as preparing the fabulous breakfast components - preserved figs, jams, croissants, cakes, pancakes, bruschetta plus gorgeous fresh fruits). The breakfast was truly stunning and by far the best we encountered in Italy. The apartment was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Hard to imagine how anything could be better; a memorable stay in a truly charming place.

My family of 8 spent 5 glorious days here this week! Yes the steps were hard work for my 69 year old parents and 71 year old Aunty, but they loved it nevertheless! At least we were able to enjoy the AMAZING food without guilt. Every tiny detail was perfect! We have stayed at many wonderful places in Italy over the past 5 weeks, but none compared to this. We arrived to delicious cool drinks and a warm welcome from the professional and kind Davide, Anna, Octavia and Simone. Our rooms contained lovely comfortable beds, perfectly laundered linen, beautifully maintained appliances and furniture and tasteful decorations. This was nothing compared to the magnificent view! The 'mini bar' contained wine, soft drink, juice, the best Limoncello in Italy (homemade), olive oil produced on the property, delicious biscuits and water. All very reasonably priced. The homemade pastries, cakes, jams, honey and bruschetta supplied for breakfast, often filled us until the evening! The warmth and helpfulness of Davide, Anna and family was second to none! From spoiling our children, booking tours and giving helpful advice to cleaning our rooms daily and making us feel like family made us never want to leave! At the bottom of the steps was the bus stop and a short walk would take you to Positano Central. The ferry in Positano could take you to Naples, the Isle of Capri or Amalfi. Perfect Location. Again the view...simply stunning! And back to the family! All communication prior to traveling, made our arrival easy and our large family group feel confident. Their assistance was invaluable. The garden is wonderful, right down to the pet minature pig and the pomegranates. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. You will love it.

Just back from a week relaxing here - it really is a lovely place, we stayed in the Poseidone apartment which was very spacious and well equipped kitchen (two induction hobs + pots, pans etc). Good clean bathroom with great powerful shower. Own private veranda with table/chairs - great for evening meals whislt watching sunset with wine and limoncello. As with everywhere on this coast - it's steep with lots of steps. Rifugio degli Dei is actually about 350 steps up from coast road though I never found it a problem - just dont forget anything!. It's about 30 min walk into Positano centre. V nice breakfast arranged every morning on terrace. We hired a car (recommend something small as parking can be a problem everywhere and roads are v narrow). Always managed to park near steps for free. Thoroughly recommended.

Just to make clear We did not stay at the Rifugio deglie Dei, but an apartment owned by the same owners further down the steps. I emailed them a month before our departure to confirm we would pay to have a transfer from naples as we were travelling on my partners birthday so wanted to make the trip as hassle free as possible, to which i got an email back saying they didnt have a reservation, quiet upset i then fowarded on all the email conversation we had been having ref the booking ofer the previous 9 months. Needless to say they couldnt acomodate us but they offered to put us up in a self catering apartment further down towards the road which we accepted as we had no choice. The apartment was addacuate and basic however the view was stunning, Id say better then being up at the main farmhouse as its not blocked by foliage so much. We had some free time one day so decided to take a walk up the steps to the main farmhouse and the apartments (the steps do go on, even as a fit mid 20's couple i dont think we would have wanted to do them several times a day like we had the steps to our apartment, we certainly would have rethought how much back and forwards we would have done to our apartment). All i can say is when we did venture further up to the main Rifudio deli dei i nearly broke down in tears, its that stunning and beutifull and even despite everything I want to go back just so i can actually stay there. The abundance of produce growing all around and the little terraces of garden just make it a picture postcard. I was so upset that they had lost our booking i really was but at least i got to see it.

I gradini?
